- At the request of Northumbria Police, we carried the scene examination, reviewed witness evidence and advised on the reconstruction. Our expert gave evidence at the trial. Shane Spence was found guilty of starting the fire which resulted in the death of his two sisters.

Penhallow Hotel Fire, Newquay, August 2007 triple fatal fire. Our expert examined the scene of the fire at the request of Devon & Cornwall Police and gave evidence at the Coroner’s Inquest.
- Lammy Crescent, Omagh where a family of seven were killed in a house fire in November 2007. We were asked to examine the scene by Police Service of Northern Ireland, and concluded that the fire had been deliberately started from within the property. Our expert gave evidence at the Coroner’s Inquest and the Coroner concluded that the fire had been started by the father, Arthur McElhill.
- R v Suzanne Holdsworth retrial of babysitting death, instructed by Stephensons solicitors. We reviewed the evidence of the prosecution forensic scientist and re-examined fixtures and fittings alleged to have been responsible for the baby’s injuries. Our evidence, along with the new medical evidence resulted in the acquittal of Suzanne Holdsworth.
- R v Sean Hoey (Omagh Bomb). We were instructed by Kevin R Winters, solicitors acting for Mr Hoey. We re-examined bomb components, reviewed prosecution evidence and advised Counsel during the trial. Sean Hoey was acquitted.
- R v Singer. We were instructed by defence solicitors Blavo & Co. We examined the scene, reviewed the prosecution evidence and advised Counsel during the trial.
